Apple's new M1 Ultra processor set a record in Geekbench tests
Apple's M1 Ultra chip scored over 24,000 points in the Geekbench benchmark test, setting a record. This is reported by the publication 9to5mac.
Journalists noticed that enthusiasts tested the power of the new Apple Mac Studio computer, announced on March 8. In a single-core test, the M1 Ultra processor, on which the machine is based, received 1,747 points. In multi-core mode, the hardware scored 24,055 points.
The authors noted that the Mac Studio on the M1 Ultra can be considered the most powerful computer in Apple's lineup. Thus, the previous record holder - Mac Pro based on 28-core Intel Xeon W-3275M processor - previously received 19,951 points in the test. Thus, the American brand's new computer was about 20 percent faster than the Mac Pro.
"The numbers are certainly surprising because the Mac Studio is much smaller and more efficient than the Mac Pro, but that doesn't mean the M1 Ultra chip makes the Mac Studio better than the Mac Pro in all scenarios," the experts stressed. At the same time, journalists suggested that by the end of 2022 Apple may introduce a Mac Pro based on its own ARM processor.
At Apple's March 8 presentation, company representatives said that the M1 Ultra has 20 cores - 16 high-performance and 4 high-efficiency cores. The processor has received 114 billion transistors.
